On 4th March, 1915, the 1st Honourable Artillery Company battalion of 7 Brigade, 3rd Division left their billets in Locre and moved into the front line at Kemmel where they remained until relieved on 16th March. On 12th March the battalion supported an attack by other battalions of 7 Brigade on Spanbroekmolen with machine-gun fire and rifle grenades. The attack failed after which the enemy turned their machine-guns onto the positions held by 1st Honourable Artillery Company, killing three men and wounding another five. One of those killed was George Goodman. |
